BOSTON, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Sit-ins on Interstate 93 north and south of Boston snarled rush-hour traffic Thursday morning.
The highway goes through the heart of the city. The northbound lanes were blocked in Milton, Mass. and the southbound in Medford, Mass.
State police said at least 29 people were arrested.
Blocking the Expressway during rush hour is NOT the right way to get your message out. #VeryDangerous #PeacefulProteatsSpeakTheLoudest

The protest was organized by Black Lives Matter, which came together after grand juries failed to indict the Ferguson, Mo., police officer who shot Michael Brown and the New York officer deemed responsible for the chokehold death of Eric Garner.
Some of the protesters handcuffed themselves to concrete-filled barrels.
Police in Quincy, Mass., near Milton, tweeted at 9:44 a.m., that the protesters had been taken away and northbound I-93 would reopen once the debris was removed.
Total arrests from this morning's protest total 29. They caused serious risk to public safety. More info to be released at 11:30.
