BLOOMINGTON, Minn., Dec. 20 (UPI) -- A demonstration against police brutality took over large sections of the Mall of America on Saturday afternoon.

Under the moniker "#BlackLivesMatter," large crowds of people descended upon a section of the mall and staged a "die-in," which involves demonstrators lying down as if they're dead.

The mall shut down the areas where the demonstrators went in order to protect customers in case of any conflicts. The mall officials informed all demonstrators they were on private property and had to leave the premises. No arrests have been reported.

"We have consistently and continually prohibited all manner of groups — regardless of cause or message — from protesting and demonstrating on our property," the mall said in a statement.

Similar demonstrations have reportedly occurred in the King of Prussia Mall in Philadelphia and malls in several other cities.
