WICKENBURG, Ariz., Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Corinne Quayle, mother of former Vice President Dan Quayle, died last week at the age of 92.
Quayle died at her home in Wickenburg, Ariz., on Thanksgiving Day, according to a funeral home announcement.
Born in Indiana in 1922, Quayle attended DePauw University, where she met her future husband, James Quayle,
Her father, Eugene C. Pulliam, was the publisher of the Indianapolis Star, and in 1946, purchased three Arizona papers, including the Arizona Republic, in a $4 million deal in 1946. The Quayles continued in Pulliam's footsteps, owning and publishing the Huntington Herald-Press and Wickensburg Sun.
The Quayles moved to Wickensburg in 1978, where Corinne became a member of the Desert Caballeros Western Museum and was a founding member of the Humane Society of Wickensburg.
Her eldest son, Dan, was the 44th Vice President of the United States, serving with President George H.W. Bush from 1989 to 1993.
She is survived by her sister, Suzanne Murphy, her four children, Dan Quayle, Chris Quayle, Martha Thomas and Mike Quayle, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
