Police: Arizona man sent texts after killing his wife

Court records also show that police say they found a journal in Edward McCauley's home with an entry dated Nov. 4 that allegedly said he was going to kill his estranged wife in 19 days.

GLENDALE, Ariz., Nov. 25 (UPI) -- An Arizona man accused of killing his estranged wife apparently planned the killing out for weeks and sent text messages to her relatives saying she was dead after he allegedly shot her, according to court records.

The Arizona Republic reported that Edward McCauley told police he had composed the text messages about Dawn McCauley's death weeks before she died.

Court records also show that police say they found a journal in Edward McCauley's home with an entry dated Nov. 4 that allegedly said he was going to kill his estranged wife in 19 days.

Family members told police that Dawn McCauley had filled out paperwork for a restraining order against her husband but was afraid to file it, according to ABC 15.

The couple had been married for more than 20 years. They had been separated about 18 months.
