SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- A U.S. Army base in San Antonio was under lockdown for several hours on Sunday, after an incident involving what officials described as a "suspicious vehicle."

Fort Sam Houston, which is part of Joint Base San Antonio, was placed on lockdown from 5:30 pm to 9 pm on Sunday. Authorities lifted the lockdown after the driver was detained.

The lockdown was reportedly prompted by a vehicle that drove through a gate without stopping, sources told KENS 5.

Todd White, a spokesman for Joint Base San Antonio, assured the media that there was "no active shooter" on the base.

"And nothing to indicate there ever was," he added.
