SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- A window washer working on a high-rise in San Francisco survived an eight-story fall onto a passing car Friday, emergency responders said.

The man, whose name wasn't reported, was adjusting the cables of his platform when he fell from the roof of the building in San Francisco's financial district.

There are conflicting reports about whether the man fell from an eight-story or 11-story height.

The injured man was transported to an area hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition. The person driving the vehicle the man fell on was uninjured.

San Francisco Fire Department officials said they're investigating how the window washer fell from his platform.

The incident comes a week and a half after two window washers were trapped outside the 60th floor of One World Trade Center in New York for more than an hour.
