MAYS LANDING, N.J., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A New Jersey man whose 4-year-old son shot and killed a playmate faces up to three years in prison for child endangerment.

Anthony Senatore, 35, pleaded guilty Thursday morning to two counts of endangering the welfare of his own children by keeping unsecured weapons in the house and of endangering Brandon Holt, 6, who died in 2013, a day after he was shot in the head. Senatore was allowed to remain free on bail until he is sentenced in February.

When Brandon was shot, investigators said he and Senatore's son were playacting at shooting at the Senatore home in Toms River. The Senatore child was able to find a .22-caliber shotgun and ammunition in his parents' bedroom.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said the case was transferred there from Ocean County because Senatore has relatives in law enforcement.

Prosecutors said they will seek an order for Senatore to forfeit all weapons.
