STILLWATER, Okla., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Police in Stillwater, Okla., said the man they believe committed a brutal murder on Wednesday turned himself in.

Isaiah Zoar Marin, 21, called 911 on Wednesday and told the emergency dispatcher he had just killed someone. Officers were on the way to the scene when they received calls from other passersby who reported seeing a man jogging along the highway, covered with blood and carrying a large knife.

Marin dropped the knife and submitted to arrest when confronted by police. Police said he then gave them the information that led them to the body of Jacob Aaron Crockett, 19.

Stillwater Police Capt. Randy Dickerson said Crockett was killed by the knife Marin was carrying, his head nearly severed from his body.

He said Marin was coherent when he confessed to the murder, telling police he had fantasies about killing multiple people. Authorities don't believe he succeeded.

Crockett was the son of a highway patrol trooper, but Dickerson said he did not believe that to be a motive. Nor do police believe the crime is related to the beheadings around the world inspired by the Islamic State.
