SEATTLE, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- A woman accused of sexually assaulting an unconscious man pleaded not guilty to second-degree rape Thursday morning.

Chantae Marie Gilman, 28, is accused of raping a man at his home in Seattle's South Delridge neighborhood in June 2013. The man, now 31, had attended a nearby birthday party and returned home to go to sleep. According to court documents, he woke hours later with Gilman on top of him, pinning his arms and engaging in intercourse.

After fighting his way from underneath Gilman, whom he recognized as a "drug-user in the area," he forced her to leave and proceeded to a medical facility to be examined. Authorities later matched DNA from the examination to Gilman.

Gilman told police that she has no recollection of the incident and that she suffers from bipolar disorder and psychosis. Authorities did not indicate how Gilman gained entry into the man's home.

Before being booked into King County Jail on Tuesday, Gilman recently gave birth to a girl and was one month into a drug rehabilitaion program.

Her lawyer asked for a reduction of Gilman's $100,000 bail, but that request was denied.
