WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Monica Lewinsky is continuing to step out into the public eye by joining Twitter Monday.

Lewinsky has been tentatively building a public profile recently, nearly 20 years after she became the center of a White House scandal in which she had an affair with President Bill Clinton.

Lewinsky disappeared from the political spotlight sue to the public shaming after news of the affair came to light.

In a column for Vanity Fair in May, Lewinsky once again apologized for the incident, but said it was time to "burn the beret and bury the blue dress."

She seems to be making progress in her campaign to let go of the past with her first tweets.
