WASHINGTON, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A parking lot at the Pentagon outside Washington was closed Friday because of fears that a woman who threw up there might have the Ebola virus.

The woman told Pentagon police she had recently visited West Africa, the center of the Ebola outbreak, Lt. Col. Tom Crosson, a Defense Department spokesman, said. Officers found her in the south parking lot of the massive building in Arlington County in Virginia.

"Out of an abundance of caution, all pedestrian and vehicular traffic was suspended around the South Parking lot, while Arlington County responded to the scene," Crosson said.

The Arlington County fire department transported the woman to a hospital in Falls Church, Va. Deputy Fire Marshal Brian McGraw said there is no indication she has Ebola.

The deadly virus can only be transmitted by an exchange of bodily fluids with someone who is already showing symptoms of the disease.
