Woman kicked off JetBlue flight because of Twitter posts

A JetBlue flight from Philadelphia to Boston was delayed after a passenger accused the pilot of being drunk on Twitter.

PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- A Tuesday night flight from Philadelphia to Boston was delayed after the plane's pilot said he believed a woman was accusing him of being drunk.

Lisa Carter-Knight, a passenger from New Hampshire, said Flight 760 was delayed because of maintenance issue.

However, according to Carter-Knight, as they were boarding, she said one passenger commented to her, "I hope there's a fully stocked bar onboard."

Carter-Knight said the comment was a joke.

JetBlue said the pilot believed he was accused of being drunk.

"As a precautionary measure, a sobriety test was conducted. The test demonstrated the pilot was sober and he was cleared to perform his duties," JetBlue said in a statement.

Carter-Knight then took to Twitter, posting, "Major debacle on flight 760 in Philly- pilot accuses passengers of accusing him of being intoxicated."

She said the passengers were asked to get off the plane while the sobriety test was being conducted.

When they were allowed back on, Carter-Knight wasn't. She said the reason was because of her posts on Twitter.

"I wasn't the individual who made the accusation. I was a passenger who overheard an individual make an off-color remark in which the pilot took offense to and went through some guidelines," Carter-Knight said. "I was tweeting about an experience like we all do. You're in a bad restaurant, you're on a long flight, you tweet to your friends and your family."

JetBlue said that wasn't the reason Carter-Knight was not allowed back on the flight.

In a statement the airline said, "The decision to remove a customer from a flight is not taken lightly. If we feel a customer is not complying with safety instructions, exhibits objectionable behavior or causes conflict at the gate or on the aircraft, the customer will be asked to deplane or will be denied boarding especially if the crew feels the situation runs the risk of accelerating in the air. In this instance, the customer received a refund and chose to fly on another carrier."

The plane left about four hours late and arrived in Boston after 1 a.m.
