UNIONTOWN, Ohio, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- An Illinois-based sperm bank is facing a lawsuit after it accidentally sent a white lesbian couple vials of sperm donated by an African-American male. In the lawsuit, the two women allege that raising a mixed-race child in the "racially intolerant" town of Uniontown, Ohio, will prove stressful.

The lawsuit was filed Monday against Midwest Sperm Bank by birth mother Jennifer Cramblett and her same-sex domestic partner Amanda Zinkon. Though the two women requested the sperm of an anonymous caucasian donor, they were unknowingly sent vials containing the genetic donations of an African-American man.

Cramblett reportedly didn't become aware of the mixup until she was already pregnant. Even after becoming aware of the mistake, she requested more of the same donor's sperm in an attempt to become pregnant with a second child.

The lawsuit alleges the plaintiffs have suffered emotional and economic damages as a result of the sperm bank's wrongdoing.

"Jennifer bonded with Payton easily and she and Amanda love her very much," the lawsuit reads. "Even so, Jennifer lives each day with fears, anxieties and uncertainty about her future and Payton's future."

"Because of this background and upbringing, Jennifer acknowledges her limited cultural competency relative to African-Americans and steep learning curve, particularly in small, homogenous Uniontown, which she regards as too racially intolerant."

The lawsuit also claims Cramblett and her partner have been advised by her therapist to seek out a new, more inclusive, racially diverse community.
