KAUFMAN, Texas, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- A Kaufman, Texas, man is on trial for allegedly killing his girlfriend in a fatal crash in December 2012.

On Wednesday, a state trooper testified he believes the pair where involved in some sort of sex act at the time of the crash.

That crash killed John Allen English's girlfriend -- 21-year-old Whitney Crawford -- and injured three other people.

English, 31, is charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter, a second-degree felony in Crawford's death.

Medical and laboratory testing at the time of the incident showed that English's urine was positive for methamphetamine and cannabinoids.

At the time of the crash, English was ejected from his Toyota 4Runner.

Witnesses testified that they found him laying face-down, with his pants down and his genitalia exposed.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Justin Schuman also testified he found Crawford inside of the 4Runner in a similar state of undress.

Schuman said based off the fact that Crawford's feet came free despite the bottom of her sweatpants being crushed tells them that "some sort of sexual act was taking place in the vehicle at the time of the accident," adding that it ultimately contributed to the crash.
