MONROE, Conn., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- The school attended by students from Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, where 20 children were killed in 2012, was emptied Wednesday by a bomb threat.

A search of the school in Monroe, Conn., found no explosives, police said. Investigators were trying to find the person who made the threatening phone call just after 9:30 a.m.

"Our investigation will continue into the call and caller," Lt. Brian McCauley said.

Adam Lanza, who had attended Sandy Hook as a child, killed 20 children and six staff members there in December 2012 before taking his own life. He also shot his mother, Nancy Lanza.

The building was closed and torn down after the massacre, and officials in nearby Monroe offered temporary quarters. Newtown plans to build a new school.
