BALTIMORE, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Court documents said on Wednesday Olympian Michael Phelps' blood alcohol content was .14 when he was pulled over Tuesday morning.

That's almost twice the legal limit in the state of Maryland.

The 18-time Olympic gold medalist faces five charges -- three of those related to driving while intoxicated according to the probable cause document filed in the District Court of Maryland.

Court documents say Phelps was clocked by a Maryland Transportation Authority officer going 84 in a 45-mile-per-hour zone.

The officer also said he saw Phelps' vehicle "drift out of its lane" and change lanes in front of a tractor-trailer.

When he was pulled over the officer said Phelps smelled like alcohol and he had "mush mouth."

Phelps also told the officer he was coming from the nearby Horseshoe Casino where he said he had three or four drinks, but said he had spent the last few hours drinking water.

The officer said he did an eye test on the Olympian, which did indicate the presence of alcohol.

According to the probable cause statement, Phelps also had problems doing the "walk and turn" test and he lost his balance at one point.

Court documents said when the officer asked Phelps to do one last field test -- the one leg stand -- Phelps replied "That's not happening."

That was when Phelps was arrested and charged with DUI, excessive speed and crossing double lane lines within the Fort McHenry Tunnel and released.

Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all time with 22 medals, 18 of them Gold.
