The suspected shooter, identified as Jalen Russell, apparently got into an argument with a fellow student, Bernard Miller, before the shooting.

Police put the school on lockdown and the suspect dropped the gun and turned himself into police without incident.

The school was closed for the day and parents are being asked to gather at North Albemarle Baptist Church to reunite with their children.

Miller's condition is unknown.
