JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- On Tuesday, Michael Dunn -- the man being retried for the murder of 17-year-old Jordan Davis -- told the jury in Jacksonville, Fla., he feared for his life when he shot and killed the teen almost two years ago.

While on the stand, Dunn said he asked the group of teenagers in a SUV to turn the music down. He said the group initially did, but then turned it back up after a teen -- later identified as Davis -- started cursing.

Dunn also said the situation escalated, and the backseat door opened. He said that's when said he saw what looked like a shotgun in Davis' hands.

"I saw the barrel of a gun," Dunn testified. "I was petrified. I shot because my life was being threatened. I was defending myself."

During closing arguments -- the prosecutor in the case -- Erin Wolfson told the jury Dunn wasn't shooting to defend himself, he was shooting to kill.

"He wasn't shooting at the tires. He wasn't shooting at the windows. He was shooting to kill. Aiming at Jordan Davis," Wolfson told jurors.
