WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- 12:41 a.m. The Secret Service said late Friday night that the man who jumped the fence did make it into the White House.

According to Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary, the man made it through the North Portico doors before being caught.

The Secret Service identified the man as 42-year-old Omar Gonzalez of Texas.

Gonzalez was taken to George Washington Medical Center for evaluation.

"The incident is under investigation and the U.S.S.S. will review the response, to make sure proper protocol was followed," Leary said.

The First Family was not inside the White House at the time.

A man made it very close to the front door of the White House Friday night, forcing a partial evacuation of the building.

According to witnesses, a man was seen running across the North Lawn of the White House.

It's not known how the man made it on to the property.

CNN reporters on the scene said the man made was "just feet away" from the door.

It happened just minutes after President Barack Obama and his daughters left for Camp David.

According to witnesses, the man scaled the fence on the Pennsylvania Avenue side of the White House.

"He pretty much landed on his feet and started sprinting," said witness Philipos Melaku-Bello.

A man -- thought to be the suspect -- was later seen being put into an ambulance.
