CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Sept. 15 (UPI) -- WCIA anchor Dave Benton delivered a solemn address to his viewers Thursday revealing his brain cancer has returned and he only has months to live.

Benton, 51, was diagnosed with glioblastoma last November and said it was then treatable as it had pushed on his brain but didn't penetrate it. He said he was in remission for six months before it returned and is now inoperable. Doctors gave him four to six months to live.

Benton described himself as a born-again Christian and took comfort in the presence of God in his final months.

"The goal here is to have a few more days and to make them the best that they can be in the life that I have," he said. "I believe that I'm in God's hands, I'm at peace and I know he will take care of the days ahead."

He said he plans to continue working as long as possible and spend time with his family.
