Second girl in 'Slender Man' stabbing found unfit for trial

WASHINGTON, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- "Slender Man" suspect in Anissa Weier was found by a psychologist to be unfit for trial for the stabbing of her 12-year-old classmate.

Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyer, both 12, were charged with stabbing a classmate 19 times in a wooded area because they were allegedly inspired by Slender Man, an online fictional horror character. They told authorities they had to commit the crime to be welcomed by the character, which was created on the website Creepypasta.

Assistant State Public Defender Joseph Smith Jr. filed a letter in court Tuesday claiming a forensic psychologist concluded Weier could not stand trial due to mental incompetency and provided Judge Michael Bohren with the corresponding documentation.

Bohren already ruled Geyser unfit to proceed and ordered her into mental health treatment.

If convicted as adults, the girls could face up to 65 years in prison but only 25 years if convicted as minors. The stabbing victim has recovered from her injuries and is attending school.
