Jurors for retrial of South Florida polo mogul to come from Tampa or Jacksonville

Judge in polo mogul's manslaughter retrial decides jurors will come from either Tampa or Jacksonville

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Sept. 11 (UPI) -- The judge in the DUI manslaughter retrial of South Florida polo mogul John Goodman ruled Thursday jurors for the March retrial won't come from Palm Beach County.

That's because Chief Circuit Judge Jeffrey Colbath said he's given up on finding an impartial juror in Palm Beach County because of media coverage of the case.

Starting Oct. 6, the attorneys on both sides of the case will head to either the Hillsborough or Duval county courthouse. Judge Colbath already knows which one he wants the juror pool to come from, but he won't make his choice publicly known until Sept. 29 to keep media coverage in the area down.

However, no matter where the jury comes from, the trial will be held in Palm Beach County.

Goodman was found guilty in 2012 of DUI manslaughter in the death of Scott Wilson on Feb. 12, 2010.

Last year, Colbath granted Goodman a new trial because of juror misconduct issues.
