THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., Sept. 4 (UPI) -- A search is underway in Thousand Oaks, California for an albino monocled cobra got loose that got loose after biting a dog late Monday afternoon.

The greyhound, that was bitten on the neck was taken to a veterinarian and is expected to make a full recovery.

A picture of the five-foot-long venomous cobra was taken by the dog's owner and reported to the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control on Tuesday. Neighbors were not told of the attack until Wednesday.

The albino monocled cobra is a deadly, poisonous snake.

It is not known who owns the snake, but a company that rents out exotic animals for film and TV shoots is just 10 miles away from the neighborhood where the attack happened. Authorities are looking into if the company owns the cobra.

International snake catcher Jules Sylvester said the snake is unlikely to go unnoticed. "He'll probably glow in the dark, he's that white," Sylvester said. "I'm sure we'll spot him again."

Until the snake is caught residents are being asked to watch their pets and keep their small children indoors.
