For the third time in months, users working from House computers editing Wikipedia were banned for makinh what the website called "disruptive edits."
This occurrence involved changes to the page of the popular Netflix show Orange Is the New Black.
"The Advocate touted that Orange Is the New Black contains the first ever women-in-prison narrative to be played by a real transgender woman," read the original entry.
On Wednesday afternoon, the unnamed person changed the description regarding Laverne Cox, the show's transgender actress.
"The Advocate touted that Orange Is the New Black contains the first ever women-in-prison narrative to be played by a real man pretending to be a woman," read the entry after the congressional revision.
Additional edits were made on different pages regarding transgender subjects. Wikipedia users began noticing and calling on the website to block the address.
"An obvious transphobe is using this IP to edit the article on transphobia," wrote one user.
"There's nothing illegal about editing Wikipedia to promote official business that has been explicitly authorized by the representative," wrote the person using the account.
"If you'd like to make good-faith edits, please create an account," Wikipedia administrator Fran Rogers wrote.
Staffers and members using registered accounts are still allowed to make edits, but cannot do so anonymously.
