Man accused of violently attacking girlfriend after he dreamed she was cheating

Carlos Gascon is charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, domestic battery by strangulation, battery, false imprisonment and animal cruelty.

MONROE COUNTY, Fla., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- A Florida man is facing a litany of charges after he allegedly spent an entire day beating his girlfriend after he had a dream where she was cheating on him.

Monroe County Sheriff's deputies were told by Carlos Gascon's girlfriend that he "was angry at her because he had a dream she was cheating on him," the Miami Herald reported.

The 27-year-old allegedly beat the woman all of Friday and she was only able to call for help after he passed out.

Gascon is accused of using a knife to slash the woman and threatening to kill her. He also reportedly dumped hot coffee on her and broke a glass table by throwing her into it. The suspect also allegedly abused the woman's dog and put his foot on its neck.

Authorities have charged Gascon with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, domestic battery by strangulation, battery, false imprisonment and animal cruelty.
