SACRAMENTO, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- A local Fox reporter has resigned after turning herself into authorities for her alleged role in a retail theft operation with her former fiancé.
Sabrina Rodriguez, formerly of Sacramento-area Fox affiliate KTXL, is charged with grand theft, burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime by the Sacramento County District Attorney.
Prosecutors allege that on multiple occasions in 2013, Rodriguez drove her then-fiancé Nicholas Gray to San Francisco, where he would use a metallic-lined booster bag to steal purses and other items from women's retail outlets such as BCBG and Coach.
Prosecutors also say they have audio of "Gray boast[ing] he has stolen up to $200,000 worth of clothing within the last two months of the recording."

Rodriguez maintains she had nothing to do with the thefts, but security footage and text messages tell a different story.
According to court documents, in one video "Rodriguez is ... observed picking up, and shaking a wallet at Nicholas Gray. As Rodriguez turned away, Gray took the wallets off of the stand and placed them in ... a 'Faraday bag' designed to defeat store security sensors."
Text messages obtained prosecutors seem even more damming to the former local morning anchor.
"Outta Vacaville. So easy. BCBG re arranged the store. So I got 100 dlr purses," Gray texted Rodriguez.
"Awesome. I love when a plan comes together," Rodriguez texted back.
Rodriguez turned herself into authorities on Thursday and resigned from KTXL on Tuesday, writing "I am heartbroken to say, I have decided to resign my position at FOX40," in a resignation letter posted to her personal Facebook page.
"Given the recent media attention I feel it was the best decision to make. The past three years at FOX40 have been absolutely wonderful. From management to my colleagues in the newsroom and other departments, everyone is talented and kind. It's been a blessing to work and learn from all of you. Resigning was not an easy decision to make, but it's one that will allow me to focus on my case and work to reestablish my good name."
