SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Customers who dined recently at P.F. Chang's are being urged to monitor their financial information after the Chinese restaurant chain confirmed possible security breaches in 33 of its U.S. locations.

In a statement released by P.F. Chang's CEO Rick Federico, the U.S. Secret Service first notified the Arizona-based company on June 10 that an intruder may have been stealing customers' credit and debit card information for 8 months.

"We have determined that the security of our card processing systems was compromised," Federico said.

"We have reason to believe that the intruder may have stolen some data from certain credit and debit cards that were used during specified time frames at 33 P.F. Chang's China Bistro branded restaurant locations in the continental United States. The potentially stolen credit and debit card data includes the card number and in some cases also the cardholder's name and/or the card's expiration date. However, we have not determined that any specific cardholder's credit or debit card data was stolen by the intruder."

California-area P.F. Chang's were hit hardest by the breach, with eight locations discovered to potentially have been affected. The other 25 restaurants were scattered across the contiguous United States.

None of P.F. Chang's Pei Wei Asian Diner locations are believed to be threatened by the breach.
