Portland teens jailed for carving swastika into 16-year-old boy's face

PORTLAND, Ore., July 25 (UPI) -- A pair of teenagers in Oregon will spend nearly a decade behind bars after pleading guilty to kidnapping and brutally torturing one of their classmates in February.

Jenna Montgomery, 15, and Jess Taylor, 17, plead guilty to first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery and second-degree assault Thursday for torturing 16-year-old Dustyn Murrain.

Montgomery was sentenced to nine years and 11 months in MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility, while Taylor faces seven years and nine months. "Ring leader" Shane Connell, 14, was sentenced to ten years in an earlier trial and 16-year-old accomplice Blue Kalmbach is due in court in August. All but Connell were charged as adults.

According to court documents, Montgomery lured Murrain to a secluded shed where the foursome beat him repeatedly in the head with a both a crowbar and a revolver. Murrain was then forced to remove his shirt so a BB gun could be repeatedly fired from point blank range at his chest, index finger and groin. Kalmbach used a box cutter to carve a swastika in Murrain's forehead before threatening to carve a smiley face in his already bloody chest.

Additionally, Murrain was forced to remove his pants so he could be hit on the buttocks six or seven times with a device resembling a cricket bat and was force fed cat feces.

When the ordeal ended, Montgomery walked Murrain from the shed to the side of the road where he made his way to a nearby business to call for help.

"I'm not really the same," Murrain told KBOI.

"I'm glad some of it's over with, but it's never going to change the fact that it all happened ... I still wake up with nightmares. I have to get woken up constantly by my girlfriend because I have such bad dreams."
