Cars continued to pass as the driver and a witness rushed to load the body back into the van.

FEASTERVILLE, Pa., July 14 (UPI) -- A corpse on a gurney spilled out of a coroner's van sending the dead body into traffic on a busy road in suburban Philadelphia Friday.

According to the Bucks County Coroner's office, a "mechanical malfunction with a rear door" caused the gurney to fall out and roll the corpse through heavy traffic outside a shopping center in Feasterville, Pa.

Witness Jerry Bradley rushed out of his car to help the vehicle's driver retrieve the dead body, but not before snapping a photo of the bizarre scene and uploading it to Facebook.

Bradley and the driver were able to return the body safely to the coroner's van while traffic continued to drive around them.

"Still hard to figure out why I was the only one who stopped," Bradley noted on Facebook.

"Care was taken to respect the deceased individual in this instance," the Bucks County Coroner's Office said in a statement to the Bucks County Courier Times.
