KITTRELL, N.C., July 9 (UPI) -- A North Carolina man was fatally shot by his grandson with a 12-gauge shotgun after the 84-year-old wounded his son with a 22-caliber pistol.

Lloyd Woodlief died after the violent domestic dispute at a mobile home in Kittrell.

The 11-year-old boy shot Woodlief after he shot at the boy's father, 49-year-old Lloyd Peyton Woodlief.

Woodlief was blasted with the shotgun and "died shortly thereafter," and Peyton Woodlief is being treated at Duke Medical Center.

The juvenile equivalent to an arrest warrant was issued for the grandson; deputies apprehended him and Tuesday and brought him into the sheriff's office shackled at the ankles and wrists.

"A juvenile petition has been taken out against the 11-year-old," Vance County Sheriff Peter White said. "He is in the custody of juvenile services."
