NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) -- A former White House staffer for the Nixon administration says the former president tried to sleep with Jacqueline Kennedy while a member of Congress.

In his new book Nixon's Secrets, Roger Stone -- who literally has a tattoo of Richard Nixon's face on his back -- claims Nixon made flirtatious advances on the not-yet first lady while he and Kennedy were both members of the House of Representatives.

According to Stone, Nixon waited until JFK was out of town for the weekend, but Jackie refused the Californian congressman. If true, Nixon's failed attempt at scandal occurred between 1947 and 1950, as both former U.S. presidents entered congress in 1947, but Nixon left for the Senate in 1950.

Stone says Nixon wasn't the only politician of the era to fancy Mrs. Kennedy, claiming Lyndon Johnson also made a pass at her after JFK's assassination.

"She told Tennessee Williams that Nixon put the moves on her while both were in the House and Jack was away for the weekend," Stone writes.

"LBJ tried to lay her too, after JFK was slain."
