INDIANAPOLIS, June 25 (UPI) -- A tornado touched down in the Indianapolis area during a severe storm Tuesday afternoon, leaving a 7-mile trail of damage in the northwest of the city.

The twister, with maximum winds of about 100 mph, was ranked as EF-1, the second-lowest level on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, the National Weather Service said. The number of homes damaged was between 75 and 100.

No deaths or severe injuries were reported. No houses were uninhabitable, although at one home the wind hurled a camping trailer into the building.

The NWS said one of the hardest-hit businesses was an auto auction, ADESA Indianapolis. About 200 cars there suffered at least some damage.

The area was also deluged by heavy rain and high winds. By Wednesday, emergency workers doing damage assessments and cleanup crews worked under sunny skies.
