Cheney was doing an interview on the Hugh Hewitt Show when the conservative host asked whether the U.S. can get through the next ten years without an attack on the homeland.
"I doubt it," responded Cheney. "I think there will be another attack. And the next time I think it is likely to be far deadlier than the last one. You can just imagine what would happen if somebody could smuggle a nuclear device, put it in a shipping container and drive it down the Beltway outside Washington, D.C."
Dick Cheney has been on a media blitz defending his decisions as vice president and criticizing the current administration since the crisis in Iraq escalated. Cheney co-wrote an op-ed with his daughter, Liz, in the Wall Street Journal, slamming President Barack Obama and his policies regarding Iraq and Afghanistan.
Critics condemned Cheney and former President George W. Bush for many of their decisions regarding foreign policy and came down particularly hard on the administration's decision to invade Iraq. The former vice president told serveal media outlets that he still believes they made the right choice. He most notably made headlines when Fox News' Megyn Kelly told him, "You got it wrong, sir."
