WASHINGTON, June 12 (UPI) -- George H.W. Bush is getting older, but he's not slowing down.

The 41st president, whose 90th birthday is Thursday, is celebrating by going skydiving. Bush announced plans for his eighth -- and he says final -- parachute jump on Twitter.

Bush first strapped on a parachute at the age of 20 during World War II, and celebrated both his 80th and 90th birthdays by jumping out of planes. The former president will make Thursday's leap from a helicopter at 10,000 feet, scheduled to depart from Walker's point, near the family's home in Kennebunkport, Maine.

"Well, I'm sure I could have done a lot of things better, but it's been a fulfilling time in my life, and a lot of experiences including being president of the United States,'' Bush told Jenna Bush Hagar, his granddaughter, and the daughter of President George W. Bush. "Not too shabby. It was an interesting time, and I enjoyed it all, enjoyed life and all."

"He is as fine a man as I know, and whenever I see him with you guys, you can tell how beloved he is by his kids and his grandkids, and I just want him to know that from the whole Obama family, we wish him all the best," President Obama told Hagar, who is a correspondent for NBC.
