FORT COLLINS, Colo., June 12 (UPI) -- Officials at Fort Carson Army base in Colorado are investigating white supremacist recruitment literature that was found on the base in an effort to determine its origins.

Images of flyers asking "Ever wonder if you are fighting for the right side?" were posted to Reddit earlier this week by a paratrooper stationed at Fort Carson. The anonymous Redditor claims he and other paratroopers "found about a dozen sealed plastic bags blowing around Fort Carson with this flyer and a CD inside."

Hate groups often target members of the military, valuing their trained combat skills and often strong ideological beliefs, according to Brian Levin, director of the Center for the Study of Hate & Extremism at California State University.

"It's like, do the Yankees want a great pitcher," Levin said to the Army Times.

"Neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups are happy to have people commit acts of violence in the name of their ideology without being a card carrying member of their group -- lone wolves. This really needs to be investigated."

"We're extremely concerned someone would attempt to recruit on a military base where you have America's finest," said Scott Levin, regional director of Anti-Defamation League. "It's obviously reprehensible."
