WASHINGTON, June 10 (UPI) -- President Obama took an unplanned stroll down Pennsylvania Avenue to Starbucks with his chief of staff Denis McDonough for "just some tea" Monday.

According to Politico, he greeted Washingtonians and tourists by shaking hands, waving and even blowing kisses along the way.

This isn't the first time the president has forgone the motorcade for some midday exercise. In May, he decided to walk to the Interior Department. The commander-in-chief joked that he was like a circus bear off his chain. He made the same joke Monday, telling the reporters scrambling after him, "The bear is on the loose!"

He also decided to rib the Secret Service as he turned down 17th Street to shake more hands, saying, "Let's test your wrangling skills."
