SAN FRANCISCO, June 10 (UPI) -- Millionaire real estate investor Jason Buzi was revealed as the person behind the @HiddenCash Twitter campaign that has been leaving money across U.S. cities.

His identity was confirmed by a voice analysis expert at Inside Edition on Friday.

Buzi acknowledged that he was the anonymous benefactor on Anderson Cooper 360 Monday night. He said he likes to help the less fortunate and saw this this as a good way to do it.

"[It gets people] out of their living room or away from their phone and out there doing things with their friends, kids or families," Buzi said. "I think there's something very powerful about that."

Buzi and his team left around $15,000 in cities throughout California and tweeted clues about the money's location from the Twitter account @HiddenCash. He revealed that he is planning to expand the project to New York, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Mexico City, London, Paris and Madrid.

"We just want to encourage people to pay it forward," he said.
