Jack Trammell rated higher than David Brat on Rate My Professors

But David Brat has more reviews -- and a higher score in the all-important hotness pepper.

WASHINGTON, June 10 (UPI) -- The general election in Eric Cantor's congressional district shockingly won't include Eric Cantor: Instead, the Virginia 7th in November will be a face-off between two unknown professors from a small college near Richmond.

Tea party conservative David Brat, an economics professor at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va., became known as a giant slayer with his surprise defeat of the second-most powerful member of the House.

Brat will face off against Jack Trammell, also a professor at Randolph-Macon, a college of about 1,300 undergraduates, where he teaches sociology. Trammell joined the race just the weekend before Tuesday's primary election, selected unanimously on a conference call with the district's Democratic committee.

Brat may be coming into the race with an advantage: Fresh off his victory over Cantor, Brat has higher recognition and about $40,000 in the bank. But Trammell seems to have a slight edge on the ultimate arbiter in university life: his Rate My Professors score.

Trammell has a 3.7 overall quality rating -- out of 5.0 -- and Brat has a 3.4.

One of Brat's three reviewers calls him "passionate about what he teaches and makes you want to learn."

But Brat, while having a lower overall average, has 23 reviewers and plenty of positive comments.

Several reviewers called him charming, although others said he often strayed from topic. And in the all-important category of "hotness," Brat took the edge, with an extra-hot chili pepper to Trammell's regular chili pepper.

(Note: In the time it took to write this article, new reviews began to appear on both pages. Trammell's were, on the whole, extremely positive, while Brat's where extremely negative.)
