During an end-of-the-year assembly at Anderson County High School, Principal Chris Glass called out janitor Ricky Spaulding to help clean up a spill in the school gym.
"They said they had a spill and of course that's my job so I went to clean the spill up," Spaulding told WLEX.
Instead of a spill, Spaulding found a bag of cash donated by students and teachers at the high school. The school had learned Spaulding had a new grandson he'd been unable to meet because his son is stationed in Italy and the trip was costly.
"My son is stationed in Italy and we are going to see him," Spaulding said. "Words can't describe the joy that I feel right now."
"Ricky is such a great guy," Glass said. "It's hard not to give to his cause."
