Shooting at Seattle college leaves one dead

Gunman suspected of shooting to death one person and injuring two others at Seattle college arrested.

SEATTLE, June 5 (UPI) -- Seattle police arrested a man who allegedly opened fire on a college campus, killing one person and injuring two others.

Police said the man opened fire at 3 p.m. PST Thursday at Seattle Pacific University at the Otto Miller Building. Three people were shot, Capt. Chris Fowler said.

"The shooter began to reload his shotgun and the student building monitor inside the hall confronted the shooter and was able to subdue individual," Fowler said. "Once on the ground, other students jumped on top of them and they were able to pin the shooter to the ground until police arrived."

The three people who were shot were transported to Harborview Medical where one man in his 20s died. A 20-year-old woman was in serious condition and another man was listed in satisfactory condition.

A fourth person was taken to the hospital after being traumatized by the incident.

The campus was on lockdown for two hours after the shooting.

The identities of the injured and the suspected gunman weren't released.
