The affected states include South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Missouri and Illinois. Large chunks of hail and winds between 60-80 mph are expected throughout all affected areas, with a strong possibility of developing tornadoes pushing winds over 130 mph.

Among major-population centers, Omaha, Neb. and nearby Des Moines, Iowa are the most threatened by the land hurricane, as both are located in the heart of the storm's path.
