MAPLE GROVE, Minn., May 19 (UPI) -- Police and FBI have begun a search of the Minnesota home of a couple whose daughter vanished 25 years ago when she was 13.
Marshall Midden and Susan Pagnac still live in the house in Maple Grove northwest of Minneapolis they occupied when Amy Sue Pagnac was last seen. They told police the girl disappeared while her father was using the men's room at a gas station in Osseo as the two returned from a trip to the family's farm in Isanti County in August 1989.
The warrant allowing police to search the house and dig up the yard has been sealed. Police Capt. Keith Terlinden refused to say if Midden and Pagnac are suspects or to give any information on the object of the search.
The couple were told they have to move out for several days.
"I have been trying to get law enforcement to do things for 25 years now, and having the fact that they're going to do something, even if it doesn't make much sense to me, is wonderful," Pagnac told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. "I just gave them permission to do whatever they wanted to do, so I don't know what's going on."
A description of the case on the Minnesota Department of Public Safety website says that Amy took medication for allergies and had had seizures. The site suggested she might have wandered off while Midden was out of the car after becoming disoriented from a seizure.
