Body of decapitated Georgia man's wife found in lake

EATONTON, Ga., May 17 (UPI) -- The body of an 87-year-old woman, whose husband's decapitated body was found in their garage, was pulled from Lake Oconee on Friday, Putnam (Ga.) County officials said.

Police discovered the decapitated body of 88-year-old Russell Dermond in the couple's Eatonton, Ga., home May 6, but were unable to locate his wife, Shirley Dermond, 87, and the head.

Shirley Dermond's body was found in the lake Friday by two fisherman, and investigators believe they'll find the rest of Russell Dermond's remains in the lake as well.

Investigators said Shirley Dermond died on blunt-force trauma to the head. Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills said she wasn't alive when she was put in the water and didn't drown.
