Chris Christie writes off Bridgegate, is considering running for president

WASHINGTON, May 14 (UPI) -- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie addressed the George Washington Bridge lane closure scandal and it's potential effect - or lack thereof - on his career Wednesday at the 2014 Peterson Foundation Fiscal Summit.

"As far as the impact on my political future, I think it will have none, because I didn't do anything," Christie told reporters. "I don't think that hurt anybody's career, and it's not going to hurt mine."

I understand the circus that this becomes. You get 61 percent of the vote in a blue state in November, and then all of the sudden a couple of staff people do something they shouldn't have done. I fire them, and all the sudden this becomes the biggest story in the country for a couple of months, because I guess you guys weren't doing anything else down here, so this is what needed to be focused on, right?

When asked by CBS News' Bob Schieffer if he was considering running for president, the Republican answered quickly and candidly, saying, "Yes, and later."
