Kraft Foods issues recall on 96,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer wieners that may contain cheese.

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 21 (UPI) -- Kraft Foods has issued a recall of 96,000 pounds of hot dogs because they may actually be cheese dogs.

After a consumer notified the company about the problem, Kraft is recalling packages of Oscar Mayer “Classic Wieners" because they may instead contain "Classic Cheese Dogs."

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said the products have been labeled incorrectly and the packaging does “not reflect the ingredients associated with the pasteurized cheese in the cheese dogs.”

The recall applies to:

16-ounce individual consumer packages of "Classic Wieners Made with Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added," with a "USE BY 16 Jun 2014" date and product code "044700000632"

Cases of 16-ounce packages that were distributed to retailers of "Classic Cheese Dogs Made with Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added, and Pasteurized Cheese Product," with "USE BY 16 Jun 2014" date and case code "00447000005300"

The company said the recall was voluntary in a post on its Facebook page.
