BOSTON, April 15 (UPI) -- An area near the Boston Marathon finish line was evacuated Tuesday night, on the one year anniversary of the bombings, after police were alerted to a couple of unattended backpacks.

Police spokesman David Estrada told the Boston Globe that the backpacks don't appear to be dangerous, but said authorities would take them seriously.

Witness said that a man wearing a black veil and make up had dropped the backpacks, WCVB reported. Others said they saw him acting erratically and heard him screaming "Boston Strong."

Police said that they had one man in custody in relation to the backpacks.
