Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is facing a tough midterm race and that was evident when a small mistake in a campaign video came under fire.
The campaign ad is a quick montage of campaign slogans and inspiring video clips, and in one clip there is the briefest flash of a Duke basketball player instead of a University of Kentucky player. The image passes in the blink of an eye, but a reporter in Kentucky noticed and that was the only spark it needed.
Democratic candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes seized the opportunity, saying, "After 30 years in Washington, D.C., Mitch McConnell has clearly lost touch with Kentucky."
McConnell's spokesperson admitted the mistake and said it was the fault of the vendor and not the campaign. The video was taken down Tuesday and re-released with a shot of Kentucky basketball player Julius Randle.
As if politics didn't have enough insanity, now March Madness is creeping in as well.
