Snohomish County officials confirmed Monday afternoon that the death toll had risen to 14.
We can confirm that six more bodies have been found in the #530slide, bringing the total now to 14.— Snohomish County (@snocounty) March 24, 2014
That does not necessarily "mean that there are 108 injuries or fatalities," Pennington stressed. "We have received 108 reports. That is very important to clarify."
Snohomish County Fire District 21 Chief Travis Hots called the situation "very grim," but said officials still hoped to find people alive in the debris.
“We are still in a rescue mode,” he said.
