Time lapse video shows Chicago River turning green

Chicago uses 45 lbs of vegetable dye colors each year to turn its river green.

Chicago resident Peter Tsai took a time lapse video showing preparations for St Patrick’s Day in the city, including turning the city's river its annual festive green.

The tradition draws thousands of spectators every year as the green vegetable dye is dumped in the river between Columbus and Wacker Drives.
