Dottie Sandusky, Jerry Sandusky's wife of 37 years, spoke with Today's Matt Lauer and said she still believes that her husband is innocent of the sex abuse charges that put him in prison.
“Do I believe him?’’ she told Matt Lauer. “I definitely believe him. Because if I didn't believe him, when I testified at trial, I could have not said what I said. I would have had to tell the truth.”
She also said that despite his actions, nothing inappropriate happened. “I don't believe that,’’ she said about the abuse. “I believe he showered with kids. That’s the generation that Jerry grew up in. ... There were always people coming in and out no matter what time that was.”
She believes that the victims pointed the finger at him because they saw the potential for financial gain.

“I think it was, they were manipulated, and they saw money,’’ Sandusky said. “Once lawyers came into the case, they said there was money.”
Lauer asked Sandusky if she blocked out what happened because she did not want to admit her husband could do such a thing and she said, "I am not a weak spouse."
Victims claimed that they were abused in the basement and even screamed. Sandusky took Lauer to the basement of her home and said it is no dungeon, and that if someone had screamed, the whole house would have heard it.
Sandusky visits her husband once a week at the maximum security prison three hours from their home.
